On July 19 – 23, 2021 (CHUT), GEM held a five-day webinar series entitled, Weaving Together Ways to Read our Lands, Skies and Waters. Throughout the series, ISLETs shared their products and insights on how they understand place, “read” their places to make decisions, and how understandings of place are encoded in language, behavior, stories, songs, foods, and traditional practices (including weaving). In addition to presentations and weaving demonstrations, ISLETs shared an activity that featured a product that they created and invited a guest speaker to bring deeper insight into our local understandings of place.
